Specsavers in Gainsborough held a family fun day to raise money for a local man fighting an inoperable brain tumour.

Family fun

The team at Specsavers in Gainsborough held the family fun day on Saturday 26 May from 10 am – 2 pm for Stefan Hawcroft, a Lincolnshire firefighter known locally as ‘The Bravest Man’.

The money raised will go towards potentially life-saving private treatment for 29-year-old Stefan, who has been fighting the brain tumour for five years but was recently told that there is no further treatment available on the NHS.

The event featured a fire truck pulled by the local fire brigade and North Lincolnshire Strongmen, alongside the tombola and ice cream van.

A word from the store director

Jacqui Nicols, store director at Specsavers in Gainsborough, said: ‘We were looking forward to hosting a fantastic day out, and we were encouraged by how people from the local community came together to raise vital funds for Stefan.'

As well as fun-filled activities and collection buckets, a recruitment team for the fire brigade was also present.
