Alice Cole, store director at Specsavers in Fulham fills us in on her favourite parts of the job, and how she got to where she is today.

How did you come to work at Specsavers?

I started at the age of 16 on work experience, and as a Saturday girl. I really liked the company, and the industry and recognised it had huge career potential.

Have you always wanted to work in the industry?

After work experience I wanted to stay with the company, and at 18 I started training to become a dispensing optician. At age 20 I worked to become the store manager, and I’ve progresses from there to director.

What's your favourite part of the job?

I love the people, both the customers, and my fantastic team. I’ve always been very passionate about bettering people’s lives in any way I can big or small. From training my team to be the best they can be, to finding glasses or contact lenses for a customer that they absolutely love.

What are your personal interests?

I do a fair amount of charity work, and am involved with Vision Aid Overseas, Vision Care for Homeless People and the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity.

Aside from my charity interests I also love history and gardening.

What are your ambitions for the business?

I want to continue to grow within the community. I want Fulham Specsavers to be the go-to place for eyecare in the community, and also ensure it’s a fantastic place to work for my team.
