The Specsavers store in Fulham has shown its support to new local children’s theatre company, Cat & Hutch Productions, by sponsoring its debut performance at the Hammersmith and Fulham Arts Festival.
The free performance of The Velveteen Rabbit took place at the Fulham Library on Sunday 15 June.
Theatre for children
Set up in January by Katrina Spreyer and Rebecca Hutchins, who both have extensive experience in drama and education, Cat & Hutch Productions aims to tackle the lack of theatre shows for children in the Fulham area and use well-known children’s stories as the basis for its drama productions.
Bryan Chakowa, store director of Specsavers in Fulham says: ‘We’re delighted to support Cat & Hutch Productions. We’ve known Katrina for a long time and know how hard her and Rebecca have worked to get the project off the ground.
Educating local children
‘It’s fantastic that they are so committed to educating local children about drama and reading. The first performance was enjoyed by all who attended, with many of the children requesting photos with the cast and puppets afterwards. We’re looking forward to working with them on future productions.'
Katrina Spreyer adds: ‘We are so grateful to Specsavers Fulham for helping to get The Velveteen Rabbit production up and running. The sponsorship enabled us to purchase many of the materials we needed for the show, without which it would not have been such a great success.’
