Members of staff from Specsavers in Frome raised an impressive £541 for Comic Relief on Red Nose Day (Friday 24 March).
The team invited customers to indulge in a slice of homemade cake in exchange for a charitable donation as well as join them in accessorising their red noses with comedy Red Nose Day specs.
Store director Martyn Thomas commented: ‘We’re always keen to support Comic Relief, so were delighted to have the opportunity to raise funds again this year.’
Staff also got involved in the fundraising fun by ditching their usual uniforms in favour of red outfits and official Red Nose Day t-shirts to encourage donations, as well as organising a pub quiz for other local businesses, raising £120 alone.
Store manager Mike Taylor said: ‘We’re delighted with our overall fundraising total! The pub quiz was a huge success and we’re so grateful for the support from our local community.
‘I’d also like to say a huge thank you to The George Hotel and Argos for helping to organise a fantastic evening and raise funds, as well as Studio Prints and our local Co-operative for donating prizes.’
Customers were also encouraged to take part in this year’s Comic Relief theme with the Specsavers’ official Red Nose Day specs by taking a waving selfie and sharing it on social media using the hashtag #giveusawave.
Specsavers in Frome joined other stores nationwide to support Comic Relief to help poor and vulnerable people living tough lives both here in the UK and across Africa and pledged to raise at least £250,000 for the charity.
Specsavers has been a Comic Relief partner since 2015.
