Two new store directors have joined the team at Specsavers in Frome.
Martyn Thomas and Richard Goring have taken over the running of two stores in Frome and near-by Warminster, bringing with them a wealth of optical experience.
Formerly a store director in Melksham, Martyn has worked at Specsavers for more than 20 years. Having qualified as an optometrist in 2000 in Newport, he has worked in Specsavers stores of all sizes.
‘I’m delighted to be joining the team in Frome,’ Martyn said. ‘The store has already had more than 25 successful years in business, and I’m really keen to continue this success by getting involved with local communities through school visits, group talks and fundraising for local causes.’
Richard started his career at Specsavers in 2008 as a dispensing optician in Witney before making the move to store director. He is well known for his work with international charity, Vision Aid Overseas, which provides eyecare to people in some of the world’s poorest countries.
Richard commented: ‘Vision Aid Overseas is a great charity and one I’ve been supporting for many years. Later this month I will be taking my fifth trip to Africa to support the charity’s work in Zambia, training staff in optical centres, carrying out eye examinations and supplying specs to those who need them.
‘Charity support is something I’m keen to continue in Frome. We have great connections with various charities and Martin and I are looking forward to getting more involved with them in the coming months.’
