A member of the team from Specsavers in Frome attended an open day at the local job centre to explain to those receiving benefits what help is available to them for both sight tests and glasses.
Optical assistant, Heather Cook, went along to chat to people about their sight test entitlement as well as taking a range of frames along to show what options are available, either for free or at a reduced rate.
Raising awareness in local community
‘It was great to be able to chat to local people about what help they can get,’ said Heather. ‘For those who might have very limited budgets, it’s important that they are still able to access eyecare. Whether that’s using an NHS voucher to buy specs or getting help with the cost of a sight test, we want to let people know they can still look after their eyes, no matter what their situation.’
