This Christmas, Specsavers in Formby is appealing for customers to donate their old glasses to help the people of Zambia to see clearly and give the gift of improved vision.
Since the beginning of 2015, Specsavers staff and customers at Specsavers stores across the North West have been collecting and donating pairs of unwanted glasses to the Vision Aid Overseas (VAO) charity.
Collected glasses are recycled
All the collected glasses are recycled and the money made is used to help provide eye care in developing countries. Now Specsavers are calling on customers to keep donating unwanted glasses over the festive period and into the New Year with thousands expected to receive new pairs or potentially treat themselves to a new look in January!
To date, Specsavers has channelled more than £800,000 into eye care charity Vision Aid Overseas. In 2011 the company opened Zambia’s first optometry training centre; an achievement Specsavers hopes to develop on in the future.
We want your old frames
If you have any old frames to donate, bring them along to your local Specsavers store in Formby.
