The Specsavers team in Flint celebrated a decade in business this week with a party and some very special VIP guests.
A ‘perfect’ way to celebrate
Colleagues in Flint were joined by the town’s Mayor Cllr Vicky Perfect and the store’s first ever customer, local woman Barbara George from Third Avenue in Flint.
Barbara and Cllr Perfect joined store director Denise Roe and the Specsavers team to mark the milestone and discuss the importance of eye health with customers.
Cllr Perfect enjoyed a tour of the store and had a picture of her eye taken with a fundus camera, a piece of equipment which looks at the back of the eye and helps with the early detection and monitoring of conditions such as glaucoma, diabetes, heart disease, high cholesterol, detached retinas and high blood pressure. Its use is standard as part of all routine eye tests.
Cllr Perfect encouraged local residents to have regular tests, at least every two years, to maintain healthy eyes: ‘Our eyes are so important and regular visits to the optician can help guard against potentially life threatening diseases.
“Specsavers is an essential and valued part of our town and, as one of our thriving businesses, it’s great to be in store helping them to celebrate today.’
A decade of stellar service
The store’s first ever customer Barbara George has been coming to the store for regular eye tests and glasses ever since its opening back in 2007.
Barbara said: ‘The customer service is excellent in store, the team is so nice and helpful and they give great style advice. I’ve been to other places, but I have the best experience by far at Specsavers so I keep coming back!’
The Specsavers team used the occasion as an opportunity to announce its new local charity partner for 2018, Macmillan Cancer Support.
Store Director Denise Roe added that her team is passionate about supporting local causes: ‘It’s been a pleasure to welcome our VIP guests Cllr Perfect and our first ever customer Barbara into store today to help us celebrate.
‘We’re very grateful to our loyal customers for supporting us over the years, without them we wouldn’t be here today. Here’s to another 10 years and more in Flint!’
