Specsavers in Faversham are warning people about the dangers of wearing sunglasses that do not provide adequate UV protection and are urging sun-seekers to stay safe this summer.
A word from the store director
Jason Gillan, store director at Specsavers in Faversham, says: ‘The first summer essential is a pair of UV protected sunglasses. The bigger the better. Oversized sunglasses are not only on trend, but they provide eyes with more protection.
‘Look for sunglasses with wrap-around frames and wide lenses that provide 100% UV protection. When possible avoid being in the sun between 10am and 3pm as these are its strongest hours.
‘Most importantly, make sure you always look for the CE kite mark on sunglasses. Consumers should be aware that the price, darkness and tint of the sunglasses do not necessarily have a bearing on the strength of the protection offered and that labels should always be checked’
