Specsavers in Fareham is appealing to anyone with old spectacles going spare to donate them to the store’s ongoing Vision Aid Appeal.
The opticians is continuing to collect used and unwanted glasses for the charity, which helps to provide professional eye to people living in challenging conditions in Africa. The Fareham team were able to collect more than 3,000 pairs of glasses for Vision Aid Overseas (VAO) in 2017.
A worthy cause
Customers can drop off their glasses at the store’s collection box, which are then collected and recycled. Proceeds generated from the reusable parts are used to fund outreach services and send eyecare professionals to isolated communities.
Simon Wain, store director at Specsavers Fareham, said: ‘We had a great response to our Vision Aid appeal last year and we’re now looking to eclipse that this year, so we would encourage anyone with old spectacles lying around to drop them off at the store today.’
