A Falkirk opticians is helping to keep local school children safer ahead of National Walk to School Week (18 – 25 May) by donating high visibility vests to GO Kids after school club in Comely Park Primary School.
The donation from Specsavers in Falkirk has enabled the after-school club to take the children on regular trips, and the vests are also used in the playground to ensure that the children are easy to spot by nearby traffic.
Stop by the store to pick up a vest
In addition to the donation, the High Street store is inviting Falkirk parents to stop by during the national awareness week to collect a free high vis vest for their children (subject to availability while stocks last).
Store director at Specsavers in Falkirk, Jonathan Cawley, said: ‘We are continually looking for ways to give back to the local community and Walk to School Week is the perfect opportunity for us to help parents keep their children safe on the journey to and from school.
‘The national awareness week highlights the many health benefits of walking to school but it is also important to bear safety in mind and ensure that children can be seen by motorists easily.’
