It has been six months since the Falkirk Specsavers store expanded and moved to a bigger premises.
The store, which is now located at 128 -130 High Street, branched out and opened a hearing hub instore to provide the community of Falkirk with audiology services.
Meet the new Hearing Director
In March this year, Claudia McCue, aged 22, joined the current Falkirk and Grangemouth store director Zander McNaughton to become co-director.
Claudia, who was born and lives in Falkirk, became Specsavers’ youngest hearing director in the country when she took on the role.
In 2015, she started her career in the Specsavers store in Glasgow as a student Hearing Aid Dispenser.
Claudia had been working in the Falkirk store one day a week until moving permanently in February this year.
Since then she has achieved a successful half a decade in the business, having recently celebrated her five year anniversary last month.
She studied a Diploma in Higher Education in Hearing Aid Audiology at Queen Margaret University in Edinburgh, where she qualified as a Hearing Aid Dispenser in 2018.
A word from Claudia
Claudia said: ‘Zander and I had discussed launching a hearing hub for many years before it actually happened. There had been a couple of times when the relocation had fallen through, so when I finally got the call to say it was happening, I could hardly believe it.
‘The relocation was a long process but it was definitely worth it as we have increased testing equipment, more space and we have been able to open the hearing hub.
‘After starting my career in Specsavers, it was always a dream of mine to become a hearing director but I didn’t believe it could have happened so quickly.
Due to the initial lockdown in March, the store had to cancel the store’s relocation celebrations and during the pandemic worked on an emergency basis only.
Services have resumed
However since reopening the store in July, optical and hearing services have resumed and social distancing measures are in place.
‘I am proud that we are able to bring audiology services to the people of Falkirk and beyond. As a local, I know how important having healthcare services on your doorstep is’ said Claudia.
Zander McNaughton, optician and store director, said: ‘I cannot believe that it has been six months since we moved to our new store – although it has been slightly different to how we imagined it would be.
‘However, Claudia has been an excellent addition to the store and having the hearing hub has made a world of difference to those who live in Falkirk.
‘At the moment, we are working tirelessly to ensure customers feel safe and comfortable when visiting us which is our utmost priority.’
