Erdington's Specsavers opticians have helped ensure children can be seen clearly this winter by donating high-visibility vests to four local schools.

The staff donated 200 vests to Brookvale Primary, Pegasus Primary, Slade Road School and Osborne Primary to mark Road Safety Week (17-23 November). Each school received more than 60 vests to allocate to Key Stage 1 school pupils when walking to and from school.

Manjit Sidhu, store director, said: ‘It’s great to get behind this nationwide initiative and help young children be seen when they’re out and about. With the dark mornings and the nights drawing in, now really is the time to think about the safety of children.’

This activity forms part of Specsavers’ support, as a co-sponsor, of Road Safety Week (17-23 November).  Specsavers stores across the country are also donating high-visibility vests to local schools and community groups as part of an initiative to keep local children safe when out and about this winter.

Road Safety Week is organised by Brake, the national road safety charity which helps to save lives and support people bereaved by road crashes.
