Congrats from Enniskillen store staff
Enniskillen store optical assistant Kim Woods, who encouraged Alex to enter the awards, presented her with a bottle of champagne and a £150 Specsavers voucher. Congratulating Alex, Enniskillen store director Ronan Rice said, ‘Alex is a stylish and enthusiastic ambassador for glasses and we’d like to wish her well for the next stage of judging’
Alex loves her specs
Alex who works for a local building company submitted an entry through facebook and it was the first time she had entered the annual ‘specs style’ competition. ‘All my spectacles, contact lenses and sunglasses have been sourced from Specsavers in Enniskillen and when I last visited the opticians I was inspired by Kim to submit my photo. I’ve worn glasses since I was 13 and whilst I certainly need them for driving and television I wear them almost all the time.
‘Stylish spectacles can really enhance a person’s style and my advice to specs wearers is to be braver and more individual. So many high profile people wear glasses nowadays and whilst I’m not big into celebrities I do admire the ‘specs style’ of Julia Roberts and Robert Downey Jnr.’
Gala prizes and Pussycat Doll star
Spectacle Wearer of the Year was launched earlier this year by former Pussycat Dolls singer, Kimberly Wyatt. The overall award winner secures £10,000 in cash, a glasses wardrobe from Specsavers worth £1000 and an all-expenses trip to global fashion capital, New York.
Support for charity
For each Spectacle Wearer of the Year entry, Specsavers donated £1 to charity Kidscape adding to the £300,000 the campaign has raised for the charity over the last 6 years.
