Specsavers in Ely is urging local glasses wearers to show off their specs style to be in with a chance of winning £10,000 in the Spectacle Wearer of the Year 2018 competition.
The store is encouraging residents to take part in this year’s activity by submitting selfies of themselves celebrating their glasses online.
Selected finalists will be invited to join Steps singer Claire Richards at a star-studded awards ceremony in London, where an overall winner be crowned Spectacle Wearer of the Year and scoop the cash prize.
Your chance to win
Minal Patel, store director at Specsavers Ely, said: ‘We’re excited to announce the return of Spectacle Wearer of the Year and we’ll be keeping our fingers crossed for all local glasses wearers entering this year’s competition.’
The competition has five age categories – 16-24, 25-34, 35-44, 45-59 and over 60s – plus a Facebook favourite voted for by the public. A winner from each category will win a VIP makeover and mingle with celebrities at the awards in London in October.
One pound will also be donated to Kidscape for each entry made, with the money raised helping to support the charity in providing practical support to children and families affected by bullying. Spectacle Wearer of the Year has raised more than half a million pounds for anti-bullying charity Kidscape over the past nine years.
How to enter
To be in with a chance of scooping the biggest accolade in the specs-wearing world, glasses wearers can enter the competition online.
Deadline for entries is 1 July 2018.
