Colleagues from Specsavers Elgin recently took part in an RAF Lossiemouth careers event to showcase the pathways to pursuing a career in optometry.

Chris Long, from Specsavers early career team, joined Elgin optical assistant Miechelle Cartwright to lead a talk on general eye health and optometry careers. They presented to more than 1,000 primary six children across the three-day event.

School visit

In addition to the RAF Lossiemouth event, Specsavers Elgin also visited local school St Gerardines Primary to lead a talk with the primary three pupils about their senses.

Peter Taylor, store director of Specsavers in Elgin, said: ‘We are keen to showcase the career opportunities at Specsavers and encourage youngsters to consider optometry later in life.

‘We were delighted to be involved in this event and it was great to see the pupils engaged in the workshops.’
