Specsavers in East Kilbride raised £395 during a fundraising event to raise awareness of Guide Dogs Week 2015 and show their support for people living with sight loss in the local community.
Throughout Guide Dogs Week, the charity’s annual awareness and fundraising week which took place from the 3-11 October, store staff raised awareness of the vital work the charity does in the local area.
Specsavers in East Kilbride Shopping Centre organised a bake sale of delicious cakes and treats to raise funds for Guide Dogs Scotland and also had a very special visit from some of the charity’s guide dogs in-training.
Supporting a vital cause
Shirley-Ann Kennedy, store director of Specsavers in East Kilbride, said: ‘Specsavers has been a proud supporter of Guide Dogs for more than 10 years. Thanks to the support of our customers we have raised a nationwide total of £270,000 in the past four years, which has funded 25 guide dog puppies.
‘We’d like to thank our customers for their support and donations during this year’s fundraiser. The adorable guide dog puppies proved very popular with both customers and staff and were a fantastic talking point to help us raise awareness of the work Guide Dogs Scotland does.’
