More than £1,150 has been raised for Comic Relief by staff at the East Kilbride opticians.

Specsavers in East Kilbride held a bake sale and raffle ahead of Red Nose Day, on 24 March. Staff also donated £2 in order to dress in red for the day to help raise awareness of the vital charity.

A hamper of treats

Mrs Eileen Gormley from the town was the lucky raffle winner, receiving a hamper of treats worth around £125. It included a pair of designer specs and glasses accessories, as well as a box of chocolates.

Shirley-Ann Kennedy, store director at Specsavers in East Kilbride, said: ‘We’d like to thank everyone in the town who supported our fundraising campaign.

‘In addition to our fundraising efforts, we also sold around 430 comedy waving specs.’
