Specsavers Eastbourne is backing the #shadesforsight campaign this year by urging their customers to pop on a pair of sunglasses this summer.

The campaign, run by the Royal National Institute for Blind People (RNIB) to coincide with National Sunglasses Day is designed to raise awareness of the need to protect your eyes from the sun.

A word from the store director

Matt Briggs, store director in Eastbourne, said: ‘According to the RNIB, nearly half of all cases of sight loss are preventable. That is a shocking statistic, and something as simple as popping on a pair of sunglasses could help save your sight.

‘Not all sunglasses are created equal. A UV filter will protect your eyes. For the best possible protection make sure they are marked CE or British Standard BS EN ISO 12312-1:2013.’
