Two parks in Eastbourne have been nominated as the UK’s Best Park for 2017 – and Specsavers in Eastbourne is urging customers to show them both just how much they mean to them by casting their vote online.

The parks nominated are Hampden Park and the Old Town Recreation Ground. They join more than 350 parks from across the UK in the running for the top prize – 35 of which are in the South East.

The winner will be announced in London at the end of November. The competition is being run by Fields in Trust, a national charity with a mission to protect parks, playing fields and playgrounds right across the UK.

Voting closes at 5pm on Friday 3 November.

Both are winners

Martin East, store director in Eastbourne, said: ‘It is testament to how many amazing spaces we have in our town that two of our parks have been nominated for this award.

'They really represent both ends of the spectrum – one a large well-known park, the other a smaller (but no less important) community facility. I am only sad that our customers will have to choose one park over the other when they vote – as both are real winners in my eyes.’
