Specsavers in Dunstable has donated 80 high-visibility vests to pupils at Ardley Hill Primary School.

Visiting the school on Thursday 23 November to mark Road Safety Week, the team met some of the children set to benefit from their bright new clothing.

Road Safety Week

Road Safety Week is a UK-wide community-involvement event organised annually by Brake, the road safety charity.

Brake is a national road safety charity which exists to prevent deaths and injuries that occur on roads on a daily basis, through campaigns and other funding. The charity also promotes safe and sustainable road use and effective road safety policies.

A word from the store director

Rakesh Nanda, store director of Specsavers in Dunstable, said: ‘We’re all too aware of how early it starts to get dark during the winter months, so we wanted to help children and their families feel safe when they’re out and about.

‘As well as our visit to Ardley Hill, we have also been raising awareness in the wider community by wearing and handing out these high-visibility vests each weekend.

‘Including donations to Larkrise Primary School and a local Rainbow and Brownie group, we have managed to give out 200 vests this year.’
