The Dunstable team recently celebrated ‘Love your Lenses’ week in-store, encouraging conversations with customers about the importance of looking after their contact lenses and washing your hands.
What is it all about?
Love your Lenses week was started after research conducted by the General Optical Council shows that not all contact lens wearers know how to look after their lenses properly.*
The General Optical Council has produced the Rule of T.H.U.M.B. to promote effective hand-washing.
Rule of T.H.U.M.B
Thumbs - don’t forget them!
Happy Birthday – sing it twice while you wash your hands
Under the nails – need a good scrub
Massage soap into palms, backs of hands, fingers and thumbs
Both hands dry? Now you can touch your eye
How the team celebrated
Specsavers Dunstable decided to bring Love your Lenses week to life with a colourful balloon arch, in theme with the event, and posters placed around the store. These encouraged conversation starters with customers and celebrated contact lenses themselves.
Senior optometrist Nishita Chauhan said: ‘Contact lenses bring their wearers so much freedom, allowing them to do activities that glasses would restrict. We certainly love our lenses at Specsavers Dunstable, and we thought it was a good opportunity to do a refresher with our customers on how to best take care of them’.
