A Dumfries woman picked up a luxury hamper from her local Specsavers store – and part of her prize will go to charity. Gillian Gillespie was one of hundreds of entrants in the Specsavers Dumfries free prize draw, which ran in the store in December.

Along with luxury food items and treats, the hamper contained a voucher for a £100 charity donation – and Gillian has chosen Prostate Cancer UK as the recipient.

Every customer who purchased glasses between December 1 and 23 was rewarded with free entry to the draw.

Giving something back

Store director Jill Dickson said: ‘Supporting charities is very important to us, and we were thrilled that Gillian chose to donate to Prostate Cancer UK this Christmas.

As a successful business in the town, we are committed to giving something back to good causes, and we wanted to give a customer the chance to choose where to donate the money on this occasion.

Giving away the hamper was a thank you to all of our loyal customers - huge congratulations to Mrs Gillespie on her win.’
