Local youngsters counted jars of rubber spiders and eyeballs, and submitted colourful witch designs for Halloween competitions at Specsavers Dumfries.

Spooky activities throughout October

The Dumfries opticians held spooky themed activities throughout the month of October and three lucky winners were picked this week.

Darah Monaghan submitted the closest guess for 'count the spiders' and Verity Platt correctly guessed the number of ‘eyeballs in the jar’. Joshua Hall was the third and final winner for his superb witch design entry.

‘Vampire’ and dispensing optician, Corrie Widdowson, presented two of the three winners with a Waterstones gift voucher in store recently.

Halloween fun for youngsters

Jill Dickson, store director at Specsavers Dumfries, said: ‘It was great to get involved with the fun of Halloween and host some in store events for our young visitors.

‘We raised £70 from the small donations customers made to each competition guess which we will donate to Guide Dogs.

‘Thanks to everyone who took part and congratulations to our three winners.’
