An opticians in Droitwich is collecting for the Droitwich Spa Foodbank in the run up to Easter.
Supporting the community
Staff at Specsavers, St. Andrew’s Square, Droitwich, are appealing to customers and the community to drop off any tinned or packaged goods, in particular Easter eggs and chocolates. The team will be collecting food in a trolley, kindly donated by Morrisons, placed at the front of the store until Sunday 27 March.
Store director Emma Singh said: ‘We have always thought the Foodbank collection was a great local cause to help as it serves people in need in our town during these tough times. We are encouraging shoppers to donate Easter eggs for children in the community that might not get one this year. Just one item goes a long way, so we are asking our customers for their support.’
Droitwich Spa Foodbank provides emergency food parcels for people experiencing a temporary financial ‘crisis’. The foodbank works on a voucher referral system and is part of the Trussell Trust foodbank network. The Trussell Trust works in partnership with local churches and organisations to bring foodbanks to communities across the UK and has more than 400 foodbanks in the network.
