The team at Specsavers Didcot supported International Assistance Dog Week (5 – 11 August) with a fundraising week for Guide Dogs.

Throughout the week the team at the store were joined by some very special four-legged friends along with a group of volunteers from South Oxfordshire Guide Dogs to help raise awareness for the charity.

Staff also drummed up some extra fundraising support by offering visitors specs MOTs (cleaning and adjustments) throughout the week in return for donations to the charity.

A word from the store director

‘It was great to celebrate International Assistance Dog Week this year,’ said store director, Adela Garcia. ‘Guide Dogs is always a really popular charity with our customers so we’re hoping they’ll get behind us and help us reach a great fundraising total.’

Guide dogs provide mobility and freedom to blind and partially sighted people. The charity also campaigns for the rights of people with visual impairment, educates the public about eye care and funds eye disease research.
