The directors of Specsavers Didcot opticians their glasses to 15 years’ service with a socially distant in-store party.
Rukhsana Bi and Adela Garcia, marked the store’s birthday and their long service awards with an optical themed cake, champagne and balloons.
The store opened in 2005 in the Orchard Centre, with five staff and carried out roughly 90 eye examinations per week. Today, a team of 20 look after some 280 customer’s eye care and audiology needs each week.
‘It may not have been quite the party we planned, but it was great to mark this milestone,’ commented Adela. ‘Thankfully, the whole team is back now from furlough and we’ve also recruited a new full time optometrist and a part time dispensing optician
‘It’s hard to believe it’s been 15 years; it’s gone so quickly, which I think reflects on the amazing journey we’ve had so far. We are so fortunate to have a great loyal team who, particularly through recent challenging times, have stuck by us. A big thank you to all our customers too – we love being part of this wonderful community and now look forward to the next 15 years.’
Specsavers stores in England are open for routine testing according to local area government guidelines. To help manage social distancing, stores are encouraging customers to book an appointment in advance by phone or online via specsavers.co.uk. New hygiene and personal protection measures include restrictions on the number of customers allowed in store at any one time, strict social distancing rules and, where possible, card instead of cash payments.
