The team at Specsavers in Didcot are collecting unwanted specs to help raise funds for international charity Vision Aid Overseas (VAO).#
Every donation counts
Staff at the store have already collected more than1,000 pairs of specs this year, but are asking customers to continue donating to raise funds for eyecare in developing countries. Donations can be dropped off at the collection point in-store to be recycled and sold on to support the charity’s ongoing work.
‘Through the donation of old glasses, we are helping to provide access to eyecare for people in developing countries,’ said store director Rukhsana Bi. ‘The charity works tirelessly to ensure those needs are met, and customer donations are vital to their success.’
VAO raises money by selling the materials from old glasses. The recycling method is environmentally friendly and enables the charity to fund its overseas projects. For more information visit www.visionaidoverseas.org.
