Members of staff at Specsavers in Devizes raised more than £480 for Comic Relief in the run up to Red Nose Day (Friday 24 March).

Fundraising fun

The team invited customers and passers-by to take part in a ‘guess the number of sweets in the jar’ competition over two weeks, as well as join them in accessorising their red noses with Specsavers’ official Red Nose Day specs.

A word from the store director

Store director Karen Carvallo commented: ‘We’re so pleased to have had the opportunity to raise funds for Comic Relief, and want to say a big thank you to everyone who visited us in store over the past few weeks to help us raise so much money.’

Staff also got involved in the fundraising fun by ditching their usual uniforms in favour of red outfits and official Red Nose Day t-shirts to encourage donations.

Karen added: ‘Everyone in store has really enjoyed getting involved with the fundraising and our local community, as always, has been wonderful in supporting such a brilliant cause.’

Customers were also encouraged to take part in this year’s Comic Relief theme with the Specsavers’ official Red Nose Day specs by taking a waving selfie and sharing it on social media using the hashtag #giveusawave.

£475,000 donation

Specsavers in Devizes joined other stores nationwide to support Comic Relief to help poor and vulnerable people living tough lives both here in the UK and across Africa and raised £475,000 for the charity.
