Although celebrations are on hold due to the current lockdown measures, the team from Specsavers in Devizes are raising their glasses (socially distanced) to twenty years in business.
The store, at 27 The Brittox, initially opened its doors with a team of just five including optical assistant Vivienne Milne and store directors, Robert Templeton and Karen Carvallo. Over the years, the team has grown to an impressive 15 members of staff.
Adding to the friendly-faces who meet customers when they come in, Specsavers Devizes has invested in state-of-the-art equipment. A hospital-grade OCT (optical coherence tomography) scan was installed in October 2019, which can help to detect sight-threatening eye conditions, such as glaucoma. As an essential healthcare provider, the store will also remain open throughout lockdown, for all eyecare and audiology needs.
To commemorate twenty years of business in the town, the team will host a special event next year for its customers and the local community when it is safe to do so.
A word from the store director
Commenting on this achievement, Robert says: ‘It’s an honour to be able to mark the store’s 20th anniversary, especially during a challenging year. However, being able to recognise this achievement alongside myself, Karen’s and Vivienne's milestones is the cherry on top of the cake. Our customers are very loyal and we’ve built up some great relationships with people over the years.
‘Although a lot has changed since we first opened the store, continuing to deliver high-quality service with a smile has remained a constant. We’d like to thank our customers and the local community for supporting us since we opened, especially through the ongoing pandemic, and we’re looking forward to a bright future.’
