Children at a Devizes primary school will be seen more clearly this winter thanks to a donation of high-visibility vests from Specsavers.

As part of an initiative to keep children safe in the darker months, the store donated dozens of hi-vis vests to reception class pupils at Nursteed Primary School, helping them to stay safe when getting involved in outdoor activities.

‘It’s wonderful to see the youngsters at Nursteed Primary making use of the hi-vis vests,’ said Karen Carvallo, retail director. ‘A lot of children’s learning takes place outside the classroom, so these vests will help keep children safe when out on school trips by making them easily visible to drivers.’

Mandy McPhee, School Business Manager at Nursteed Primary, said: ‘We’re so pleased Specsavers has kindly donated these vests for our children to use. We take the reception class out on welly walks each week and the high-visibility vests will help us to keep the children safe when near the roads.’

The store’s donation forms part of Specsavers’ support – as a co-sponsor – of Road Safety Week (23-29 November). The annual event, which is organised by Brake, is an opportunity to inspire communities to take action on road safety and raise awareness of life-saving messages.
