The Derry Specsavers team got right behind this year’s Comic Relief initiative with additional fund-raising activities including a fun-packed Red Nose Day ‘Eat red wear red’ day.

Staff created red buns and sweets and wore their Specsavers Comic Relief T-shirts. The team raised over £70 pounds in addition to selling Specsavers #GiveUsAWave Comic Relief specs in the run up to Red Nose Day on Friday 24 March.

Great fun in store

‘Our staff really enjoyed planning and hosting our Comic Relief activities and local customers were very generous in terms of their support. It was super craic in store and we were delighted to be part of such a fantastic charity initiative,’ said store director Maeve Walsh.

Comic Relief partners

Specsavers once again partnered Comic Relief and stores sold adult and children’s red specs costing £2. All the money raised went straight to Comic Relief to help generate much needed cash to support poor and vulnerable people living tough lives both here and across Africa.

After Red Nose Day, Comic Relief organisers announced that the fund-raising campaign this year raised £71.3 million.
