A special Specsavers Hear Care van has been out and about in the Derry / Londonderry area. Hear Care Assistant Stacey Elliott has been manning the van and hoping to screen as many people as possible. The van will be out and about again in September and is run alongside the Business in the Community ‘Livewell Campaign’.
Only takes three minutes
The Sound Check Northern Ireland vehicle provides three-minute hearing screenings, with no need to book an appointment. The screener lets customers know whether they would benefit from a full hearing test, which takes about an hour.
Hearing tests every two years
Store director, Daibheid McHugh, says, ‘Despite its prevalence hearing loss is often overlooked by people when it comes to their healthcare route. If untreated hearing loss can affect every aspect of life and lead to depression and social isolation. At Specsavers we recommend that people over the age of 55 should get a hearing test every two years. The new mobile hearing van is an easy way for people to take the first step in tackling hearing loss and is free of charge.’
Specsavers has instore hearing centres managed by qualified audiologists and hear care staff. Each hearing centre boasts hi-tech facilities and sells quality hearing aids at great prices. All Specsavers digital hearing aids are sold as part of a complete hearing package.
