Specsavers in Derby is helping customers go specs-free with expert advice, world-class tech and the very best service.

Choosing lenses

Many people find the prospect of contact lenses quite daunting – especially if they have had a bad experience of them in the past. However, contact lens technology and production has made significant progress in the past few years with the aim of making lenses more comfortable, conscious of eye health and available to a wider variety of prescriptions.

From monthly lenses to varifocals, there are now a range of lenses to suit different occasions, prescriptions, preferences and budgets.

The best advice

The team at Specsavers in Derby offer service based on their philosophy of putting customer needs first. Eye health and contact lens needs vary from customer to customer, and staff are highly trained to offer expert advice for each individual’s needs.

The contact lens department’s consistent commitment to customer service was recognised last year with a nomination for the Excellence Awards 2016.

World-class technology

All testing rooms have been upgraded to include LED slit lamps and keratometers, meaning that the contact lens consultation room is one of the most advanced in the area.

The latest LED slit lamps are used to look for any diseases or abnormalities of the eye, eyelids, lashes, lenses, conjunctiva, cornea and the iris.

The advanced, painless and non-contact Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) scan is available as a standard part of testing. The 3D scanning technology, usually found in hospital eye departments, produces a structural scan of the of the eye, including layers of the eye that would not normally be visible using traditional eye testing techniques.

OCT scans help to identify early signs of conditions, including age-related macular degeneration and glaucoma, years earlier than traditional imaging methods.
