In the run-up to Migraine Awareness Week 2018, Specsavers in Dartford is sharing advice on retinal migraine, an eye condition that causes brief attacks of blindness or visual problems like flashing lights in one eye.
A word from the store director
Kam Singh, store director at Specsavers in Dartford, says: ‘Retinal migraine’s episodes can be frightening, but are in most cases harmless. It's unusual for an episode of vision loss to last longer than an hour and the same eye is affected every time in almost all cases.
‘If you manage to see an optometrist during the attack, they might be able to see the decreased blood flow to your eye and make a confident diagnosis of a retinal migraine.
‘However, as attacks are usually brief, it’s more likely you’ll be diagnosed based on your symptoms. If you have been experiencing anything similar, make sure you see your optometrist or GP and discuss your symptoms with them.’
