Staff at Specsavers in Dalkeith raised an impressive £330 during a Red Nose Day fundraiser. The store’s fundraising total contributed to the colossal £335,000 raised by Specsavers stores and offices throughout the UK.
Staff at the opticians asked customers to dig deep in support of Comic Relief during a store fun-day in which customers were encouraged to make their face funny for money.
The staff also held a Red Nose themed bake sale and dressed in red. The store stocked Specsavers’ Red Nose Day glasses in small and large sizes, costing £3 with £1 from each pair sold being donated to Comic Relief.
Craig Selbie, store director of Specsavers in Dalkeith, said: ‘We had a great day fundraising for Comic Relief and we’d like to thank all our customers who got involved with fundraising on the day and supported us so generously.
All our staff have had lots of fun making their faces funny for money this Red Nose Day and everyone’s so pleased that we were able to contribute a great amount to the Specsavers’ total.’
Specsavers in Dalkeith joined Specsavers stores nationwide to support Red Nose Day to help poor and vulnerable people living incredibly tough lives both here in the UK and across Africa.
The charity has raised a total of £78,082,998 so far which was announced on the evening of Red Nose Day, 13 March.
