The Cwmbran team hosted their own bake-off in store, raising more than £350 for the cancer support charity, Macmillan.
Variety of sweet treats
Staff tested their baking prowess with a variety of cupcakes, donuts and cookies for the sale at the Cwmbran Centre.
The store raised £351 for Macmillan as part of the charity’s annual ‘World’s Biggest Coffee Morning’, which encourages businesses and people across the UK to don their aprons and hold bake sales to raise awareness of cancer and funds for the charity’s various support services.
Mark Edwards, store director of Specsavers in Cwmbran, said: ‘There are plenty of keen bakers in our store, so I knew there would be enthusiasm for the sale, but I was blown away by the amount of entries and the creativity they displayed.
‘Of course, there’s a serious reason for this light-hearted activity in-store. Cancer has devastated so many families - both nationally and locally in Cwmbran. Macmillan provides a vital service to those suffering and we are proud to do our bit to ensure more people can receive the care and support they need.
'I’d like to thank everyone who took the time to bake, and the customers that generously donated to the cause. Without them, we wouldn’t have been able to raise as much as we have.’
