Generous Cwmbran residents have helped a local opticians raise £250 for a children’s charity after donating to an in-store bake sale.
Channelling inner bakers
The Specsavers team in Cwmbran Shopping Centre channelled their inner bakers to make treats for the Cerebra fundraising event.
Customers were encouraged to make a small donation, with money raised going towards the charity’s support for children with brain conditions and their families.
The Carmarthenshire-based charity creates items for children with brain conditions, including bespoke surfboards and wheelchairs, to improve their quality of life. As well as the bake sale, younger visitors were entertained by a face painter in-store.
In total, £250 was raised for Cerebra on the day.
Mark Edwards, retail director at Specsavers Cwmbran, says: ‘Without Cerebra, numerous children and families across the region would not have access to vital support services and equipment that help them better manage their brain conditions.
‘Our fundraising day was a good opportunity to get customers of all ages involved in our goal to raise £1,000 for Cerebra in 12 months, a goal we are significantly closer to reaching thanks to the generosity of those who donated.’
