The team at Specsavers in Cwmbran has raised more than £300 for Comic Relief.

Raising funds

Staff at the Cwmbran Shopping Centre store dressed up in red clothing and held a cake sale, encouraging customers to dig deep and donate on Red Nose Day.

In the lead up to the day the store sold comedy waving hand glasses for £2 a pair, also offering local residents the chance to guess the number of sweets in a jar in return for a donation, raising £306 for the charity.

Comic Relief aims to tackle poverty and social injustice in the UK and further afield. Specsavers has been a partner of the charity since 2015.

‘Impressive amount’

Mark Edwards, store director at Specsavers in Cwmbran, said: ‘We had a great time dressing up and getting our community involved with the fundraising. Comic Relief provides vital support for those less fortunate, so we knew we had to do something to help.

‘I’d like to thank our team, and the customers who donated, for their efforts – without them we would never have raised this impressive amount.’
