Croydon opticians and audiologists will take to the town’s streets for a Zumba masterclass in celebration of the relaunch of their new-look store. Specsavers in Croydon North End will be officially reopened on Thursday 21 January at 10am by Dame Mary Perkins, Specsavers’ founder and The Worshipful the Mayor of Croydon, Councillor Patricia Hay-Justice, before residents are welcomed to participate in the mass outdoor dance class.
Zumba instructor Hayley-Jo Whitney, who found national fame in Specsavers’ popular TV advert, will be on hand to put team members and residents through their paces as they mark the reopening of the state-of-the-art new facility, which features a cutting edge new way of selecting and fitting customers’ glasses.
After an £300,000 investment, the store underwent extensive renovation and expansion works, resulting in the creation of eight new jobs.
A word from the store director
Bill Pennell, store director at Specsavers in Croydon North End and Church Street, said: ‘Not only have we created eight new positions and the capacity for a further 200 tests each week, we’ve introduced an audiology service and pioneering new way of selecting and fitting customers’ glasses.
‘This is a significant moment for optical and audiology services in the borough and we’d like to thank our special guests, Dame Mary Perkins, Mayor Hay-Justice and Hayley-Jo Whitney for helping us mark the occasion in style.’
New in North End
Upgrade works included adding two new test rooms, increasing floor space to allow 1400 frames to be displayed and the creation of a luxury new waiting area.
The store now offers Digital Precision Eyecare, which ensures everyone receives the very best professional care and advice in frame selection and dispensing for their prescription, vision and lifestyle needs.
Following an eye examination, the optical team assists customers in selecting their preferred glasses. Imaging software on a tablet is then used to take an image of them wearing the glasses, which in turn captures a range of essential dispensing measurements. These are unique to the customer and their chosen glasses.
