A Croydon mum has smashed her fundraising target ahead of her charity skydive in aid of a Sydenham hospice.

Mandy Kingsford (33) raised more than £400 for St Christopher’s Hospice after championing a fundraising drive alongside her colleagues at the Specsavers stores in Croydon’s Church Street and North End.

A cause close to her heart

Mandy signed up for the charity jump in a bid to thank the hospice which cared for her father and aunt. She and her fellow eyecare specialists hosted a charity day, complete with a prize draw, additional teddy tombola, children’s lucky dip and bake sale.

A word from Mandy

Mandy said: ‘I know St Christopher’s has a special place in many people’s hearts, including mine, but I have been completely overwhelmed by the support from my colleagues and the community. I’d like to thank everyone for helping me reach my target for such as worthy cause. With you all behind me, I’m feeling confident about the challenge ahead.’

A word from the store director

Bill Pennell, director of the Specsavers stores in Croydon added: ‘Every year, St Christopher’s faces a huge challenge to raise more than £11 million to continue to provide its vital services to those in need. Mandy inspired us all to come together and do our bit to support them. We’re very proud of her wish her all the best with her upcoming skydive.’
