Award winning broadcaster and producer Rob McLoughlin OBE officially opened Crosby’s new optical and hearing centre by cutting a red ribbon.
Rob is the cousin of Crosby Specsavers’ director, Chris McLoughlin and a former host of ITV's Granada Reports where he worked as its longest serving presenter of political programmes.
Family focused business
Store director Chris McLoughlin says: ‘We are a family focused team here so asking my cousin Rob to support the opening of our new store for us was the perfect choice. It’s been all go since the new store opened which is fantastic. We’ve even had to open a new testing room to meet demand.’
Family star hosts launch event
Rob said he was delighted to support the launch: ‘I jumped at the chance to support my cousin Chris and this new enterprise, especially in such a great community like Crosby, which is also where many of my friends and family live'.
'I recently announced that I am working with Aintree Racecourse to bring their legends such as Red Rum back to life for a virtual Grand National Race of Champions over the real course using high definition 3D graphics, so I welcome the chance to offer any boost I can to additional new services which will benefit local people.
‘It was great to cut the ribbon and meet some of the store’s customers, who couldn’t be more positive about the professional approach of its staff as well as the additional health services the new optical and hearing centre will bring. A great day!’
Rob, who grew up in nearby Maghull, began his broadcasting career with Liverpool's Radio City and became one of the first presenters on BBC Radio Five Live and one of ITV Granada's most best recognised presenters.
He also worked for ITN and ITV's 'World in Action' has built and created his own media and production companies.
New team provides optical and audiology services to locals
The new store employs 10 members of staff and features two testing rooms. Audiology services are available three days a week and appointments can be booked by phone or online.
