Glaucoma is one of the leading causes of irreversible sight loss – and it is often detected through a routine eye test.
So when the team at Specsavers Crawley, in The Martlets, were given a chance to take extra glaucoma training ahead of World Glaucoma Week this March, they jumped at the chance.
The training, designed by Specsavers and the International Glaucoma Association, is designed to help retail staff provide additional support to glaucoma sufferers in store.
Regular eye tests matter
Kumar Keshavji, store director in Crawley, said: ‘We are really committed to great customer service, and to deliver that, we are equally committed to training and developing our staff.
‘Once you have lost some of your sight to glaucoma, this cannot be restored – although treatment can stop it getting any worse. So regular eye tests really matter.’
