Moira P6 pupil Owen Kinsella has picked up a book review award from Specsavers and NI4Kids following his prize winning story which reviewed Lucy and Stephen Hawking’s space exploration story, ‘George and the Blue Moon’.

Understanding the cosmos

Owen summed up the novel which mixes science with science fiction as, ‘Really interesting and funny. It made me laugh and it was an exhilarating story. The story showed that if we understand the cosmos we understand each other.’

‘I very much enjoy science and finding out about fossils and dinosaurs. I might like to study palaeontology when I’m older. It was a great experience writing this book review and I’d like to thank my teacher Mrs King who encouraged and supported me.'

Reading is vital

Congratulating Owen, Colm Campbell, ophthalmic director at Specsavers in Rushmere Shopping Centre said, ‘Well done to Owen and to Moira PS. Specsavers is delighted to support NI4Kids Reading Corner. It’s vitally important for young people to read as much as possible and enjoy a wide variety of books.’

Each issue of NI4Kids features a book review linked to each of the 18 Specsavers stores in Northern Ireland. Specsavers also backed NI4Kids Family Awards 2016 by sponsoring the Coach/Tutor of the Year Award.
