Cowbridge will welcome a new optician as Specsavers invests £331,000 in a new Welsh store.
The opticians, located on 27 High Street, will be opened on Monday 5 March by new directors Hannah Davies and Adam Thomas, who have been directors of Specsavers in Talbot Green for the last five years.
The 1,286-square-foot store will have one test room as well as state-of-the-art technology, including an Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) machine, which is normally found in hospital eye departments and can screen and manage conditions such as age-related macular degeneration and glaucoma. Audiology services will also be available in-store once a week.
‘Many of our customers at Talbot Green already travel from Cowbridge and the surrounding villages, so opening a second store closer to home was a logical next step,’ says Ms Davies. ‘We are looking forward to welcoming familiar and new faces into our new store and are even planning an Easter-themed family-focused party to celebrate.’
Easter-themed launch party
The store will host an Easter-themed launch party on 31 March 2018, with Easter egg hunts and goody bags for children. The first 200 customers in-store will also be entered into a raffle, with the lucky winner receiving a full refund on the cost of their purchase.
Four members from the Talbot Green team will be joined by three new trainee optical assistants, Aimee Tarry, Suzanne Watkins and Angharad Davies.
‘Adam and I both live locally, so Cowbridge is a town close to our hearts,’ Ms Davies continues. ‘We’ve had a successful five years at Talbot Green, most recently receiving the externally-ratified “Platinum Employer” accreditation for our commitment to staff development. We hope to replicate this in Cowbridge.’
The Cowbridge store will be open seven days a week with a late night clinic on Wednesday, and will stock thousands of frames, including designer glasses such as Kylie Minogue and Tommy Hilfiger eyewear.
