Specsavers in Coventry has re-establishing its town centre hearing service to customers, following the serious fire in the store.

Mobile unit

While repairs to the premises are undertaken the hearing service will operate from a mobile unit, situated in the Upper Precinct, just a few metres from the store, between Costa Coffee and HMV. It will be open between 9am and 5.30pm, Monday to Friday, and at the same times on alternate Saturdays. The first Saturday it will be open is 17 January. Customers can ring the usual store number.

Extended opening hours

In addition to this, the hearing service operated by the Specsavers Coventry team at the Holbrooks Health Team premises, at 71-77 Wheelwright Lane, Holbrooks, will extend its opening hours to meet customer demand. It will now be open from Monday to Friday, between 9.30am and 5pm.

All hearing customers who have had an appointment cancelled or have one scheduled in the next week will be contacted to rearrange their appointment.

Fire Damage

Specsavers Coventry director Hitesh Solanki says: ‘I’m very pleased to be able to offer a hearing service to our customers so soon after the fire. We are still assessing the damage to the store and how long it will take to repair the premises and reopen.

‘The staff have worked exceptionally hard over the last week to make sure customers are contacted, appointments are rebooked at other stores and making sure orders are ready for collection; I’m really proud of the whole team. Our customers have been very patient and understanding and I’d like to thank them for their kind wishes and loyalty.’

Nobody was injured in the fire at the store, which started early in the morning on Tuesday 30 December.
