Andrew Fraser is the Retail Manager at Specsavers Corstorphine. Here, he fills us in on his favourite parts of the job and how he got to where he is today.
Tell us a bit about yourself
I am from Dunfermline, in Fife and still live there now.
Aside from continuing to learn and develop in my current role in Corstorphine, I enjoy sport, especially golf, and regular exercise at the gym.
Do you wear glasses, and if so what is your favourite style?
There are lots of new eye-catching styles at the moment, but I’m currently wearing BOSS Orange frames. The BOSS brand delivers some retro and classic shapes, with modern detailing and great choice of materials, texturing and colours.
Tell us about your job and the experience you have?
I have been qualified as a Dispensing Optician for two years but have over eight years of optical experience.
The three year course teaches skills required in the provision of glasses and contact lenses. I required this training provide eye care to children under 16 years and for partially sighted or blind customers. The course has given me the tools to offer the best possible advice and care.
As the Retail Manager, my role covers all aspects of team learning and development, coaching, mentoring and of course supporting the Store Partner, Adam in delivering a first class service to everyone.
Tell us about any additional services you offer?
Specsavers' ability to offer services on hearing, eye care in-store, and now at home is something we're proud of. At Specsavers Corstorphine, we're passionate about the local community and have been involved in lots of initiatives, such as a donation of high-visibility vests to local schools to keep children safe.
