Specsavers Colwyn Bay has raised £150 for an anti-bullying charity during an action packed family fun day.
The store transformed its contact lens Big Fit day into an extravaganza.
With a performance by Adrian Wright Karate Group, led by sensei Rebecca Jones from Rhos on Sea, a charity raffle, Gruffalo goodies for children and staff dressed as their favourite children’s characters, there was something for everyone at the store.
Searching for Specs Appeal
Those who came along were even in with a chance to win £10,000 in cash and a dream holiday to the Bahamas, as Specsavers staff hunted for entrants for the Spectacle Wearer of the Year competition.
The national competition, fronted by Girls Aloud and West End star Kimberley Walsh, champions those who wear their specs with pride. The Specsavers Colwyn Bay team were armed with cameras in the hopes of spotting a local contender who could take the crown for Colwyn Bay at the awards ceremony in London, hosted by Gok Wan.
For each entry to the competition, Specsavers donates £1 to anti-bullying charity Kidscape. Donations to Kidscape were also welcomed by the store on the day, and one lucky customer bagged a pair of designer glasses in the charity raffle.
"Glad to see so many people come along to share the fun"
Erica Chapman, store director at Specsavers Colwyn Bay, says: ‘We celebrated all things specs and contact lenses on Saturday, and were glad to see so many people come along to share the fun with us.
‘We’re all big fans of the Spectacle Wearer of the Year competition. There are still people who are self-conscious about wearing glasses so celebrating everyone with specs appeal is really important.
‘We’re all more fragile when we’re young, so Kidscape is the perfect charity partner for a competition that promotes individuality and feeling comfortable in your own skin.
"A back-up pair of cool specs is a must"
‘Our two free pairs for children promotion* will be a blessing for parents encouraging children to wear their glasses with pride. Their tastes can change so quickly, so having a backup pair of cool specs is a must.’
