Staff at a local opticians hosted a Cupcake Day on Wednesday 13 June, raising funds for the Alzheimer’s Society.
The team at Specsavers in Belvoir Shopping Centre offered beautiful cupcakes in return for charitable donations, as part of the Alzheimer’s Society’s national Cupcake Day campaign, which has raised over £1.4 million since 2016.

Store director, Shailan Ruparelia, commented: ‘We’d like to say a big thank you to everyone who got involved and to our loyal members of the community who came down and showed their support by making a donation.’
Alongside the fundraising, the staff at Specsavers in Coalville are now qualified to better understand the needs of customers suffering from dementia, having completed the Dementia Friends training - an initiative run by the charity.
The Alzheimer’s Society aims to transform the landscape of dementia. Until they find a cure, the charity strives to create a society where those affected by dementia are supported, accepted and able to live in their community without fear or prejudice.
