Specsavers in Coalville raised £65 for charity last month when staff took part in Jeans for Genes on Friday 18 September followed by the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning on Friday 25 September.
Staff donated money to don their denims at work for Jeans for Genes; an annual initiative to raise funds for Genetic Disorders UK. Only a week later the team practised their baking skills and ran a delicious homemade cake sale in aid of Macmillan.
Shailan Rupareila, store director, said: ‘It was great to raise money for two incredible charities as a team. The cake sale for Macmillan was really popular and we’d like to thank everyone who donated.’
The money raised for Jeans for Genes Day funds a range of initiatives that improve the quality of life of children and families affected by genetic disorders. While the World’s Biggest Coffee Moring is Macmillan’s biggest fundraising event for people facing cancer.
